Troubleshooting 'purchase limit exceeded' sales

When troubleshooting sales that are unverified due to exceeding a purchase limit, you may find it useful to look at the sale drawer to get some more information. There is a column for the 'grams per unit' of the product that was sold and a column for the 'product category'. This illustrates the amount of cannabis in the product and the regulatory category of the product.

On sales that exceed the purchase limit, you may see that a product has a gram level that is much higher than usual (although there are some exceptions, many flower products are under 28 grams, for instance). This issue may be caused by some miskeyed product data in the Point of Sale (POS). For instance, if a customer builds an Edible product in their POS called "Chocolate Bar - 100 milligrams", yet they enter the product grams value for this product as 100 grams in their POS, this would be flagged by our system. Despite the name reflecting 100mg, each POS has a field where users delineate how much active cannabis is in the product. In this example, we'd expect to see 0.1 grams in that field.

Green Check uses the grams/unit and the product category information together in the Compliance Rules Engine (CRE) to determine if this sale was above the purchase limit allowed in this state for this product type and this customer type.

If you would like to reach out to your CRB to let them know about a product that may be throwing off the CRE results, you can now be empowered with this information when reaching out. You'll know the specific product and its category, which your CRB can use to find and correct any issues in their POS. If a CRB does correct a product, you can then kick off a reingestion to pull in those changes.

If your CRB would like information on how Green Check ascertains the Gram values for their specific POS, you can direct them to this article, where we outline the fields we use for each POS.
