Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I amend any SAR?
A: You can duplicate and amend any SAR that was previously completed and exported. Those can be found in the Completed tab within FinCEN.
Q: Will the original SAR remain on record?
A: Yes, the original SAR will remain unchanged. The amended SAR will be recorded as a separate report and can be completed and resubmitted.
Q: Do I need to include the Prior BSA Report ID?
A: Yes, the Prior BSA Report ID is required when filing an amended SAR. This field helps identify the original SAR you are amending. Be sure to enter the correct ID before saving and submitting the amended report.
Q: Can I still create a blank amended SAR using the Create New Report button?
A: You can still use the manual SAR creation modal (Create New Report button above the FinCEN tabs) to create an amended SAR; however, that will create a blank copy of a SAR and will NOT contain all fields that have been filled in from the original SAR. Use the new feature described above to create amended SARs if you want all previously filled in information to carry over.
